G.D. Vajra Langhe DOC Freisa Kye 2017
Wine Region: Piedmont, Italy
Type: Red Wine
Grape: Freisa
Tasting Notes
The aromatics are a combination of redcurrant and wild mountain berries, layered with a touch of sweet spices, fresh leather, and candied japonica prune. The mouth is juicy, succulent, with lots, yet never hefty, tannins. There is a beautiful structure in this vintage and a lovely finish.
About the Winery
The initials of the winery G.D. Vajra stand for Giuseppe Domenico, Aldo Vajra's father, who signed the founding documents of the winery in 1972 and is located in Vergne, the highest village in the western Barolo area. The Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Barbera varieties are cultivated there, as well as the Freisa and even the white Riesling grapes, which were important in the past, in strict compliance with fundamental ethical values.
